Huerquehue national park, close to Pucón, consists of 125 square kilometres of mountains, lakes, and a valdivian rainforest. The highlight of the park are the lakes high in the mountains, surrounded by Araucaria trees (Monkey Puzzle Trees). From the Conaf office at the entrance of the park, you can make a trekking called "Los Lagos".

A bus leaves from Pucón every day at 08:30 from the bus terminal of Buses Cabugua (Almost at the junction of Uruguay and Palguins streets) and places you right at the entrance of the national park. The ride takes about one hour and a half, so you arrive at about 10:00. The first part of the Los Lagos trail is flat and easy, but gradually it will rise until you arrive at the lakes. While climbing with a cloudless sky, you will enjoy beautiful views over snowcladded active Villarrica Volcano to the south.

The last bus back to Pucón leaves at 17:50 PM every day of the year. In high season, January and February, there is also a later bus at 19:30 PM.
